Production Diaries 3th - 6th March
Monday,
This morning we got stuck straight in with a prompt to do an improve scene in a group. I found myself in a group with only girls which turned out to be a positive. The prompt was "this is the best day of my life" so we started through ideas at the wall and we definitely all agreed that it shouldn't be serious and that we would like it to end on the prompt. So we eventually ended up with me at a girls sleepover pretending to be gay and as they are about to take there clothes off to get into their pyjamas, they freeze, then I say the prompt "this is the greatest day of my life". The rest of the day was spent polishing normalised and seeing if there are any week areas that need some potential strengthening.
Tuesday,
we spent a lot of time directing the combat scene me and Keiran are doing for the fringe festival, it needs to be done safely while actually looking really, combat is a very fun thing to do and its great i get to revisit. We have thought about costume and how the set will link into the the fight scene, we will need a few props!
Wednesday,
With it being show week next wee we are knuckling down with normalised, I am happy with all my scenes and I am happy with the direction I took Jamesy. The progress of this character development has definitely been tricky, i just needed to find out how to create a character that is so unwilling mean. We all know someone like Jamesy, a real piece of work and someone you definitely don't want to be around. Its all about the little details, the little 1ups, the power plays and the mess abouts. really have played him like a little rat.
Thursday,
W have finished come from away and made it just perfect, we have went over and over it and now we are really happy with it, We even got to show it to some people and we are also thinking about putting it into the fringe festival. Now as it is the last rehearsal until show day we are cracking on big time with a few scenes, especially since we now have all the ensemble. We sorted out the group scenes like the vigil and the school lunch hall scene and most importantly the last scene where Jamesy attempts to burn down the shrine, I think this is such a powerful scene as this is now Jamesy lowest point but we cant help but feel sorry for him. He is angry throughout the entire play but this is a different kind of anger, he is completely helpless and alone in the end.
