Production Diaries 3rd - 6th February
Monday,
As a class we identified that projection definitely. needs to be improved, however, how can we still convey convincing emotion while also projection. Today we tested this by using song lyrics. We were given a song and then told to act our each lyric while saying it with full clarity and projection. my clarity could be better as some areas of my speech can get a bit jumbled up. After this we were tasked with putting togther a scene using the lyrics. We took some elements from the notebook, a little romance scene that took the lyrics quite seriously and with some comedy.
Casting results,
The shows have now been casted, and I am very glad to say that got the role of Jamsey, I cant wait to do the whole connections process and especially perform at the Newcastle theatre royal. I feel like its going to be a great time. The competition was very tough we all gave it everything we got but I still have the privilege to work along side them. I also bagged another role in a student lead production called bright young things as a presenter
Tuesday,
This was the first read through of the student lead production bright young things, Our directors Beth and Alex have chosen a very witty play which has a lot of potential and I am very happy they chose me to be apart of it, I am playing a dick and dom style presenter which My man Delroy who I worked with on dear Even Hanssen with. After the read through we then stated just blocking some scenes cause why not, we have had an early start into it.
Wednesday,
Now its time to get cracking with normalised, we split off into our groups and we started to block through the first scenes and really figuring out how we work with the set and also transitions. We also had to tackle the writers decision to have the actors play with an "Imaginary Football" which was interesting. I was given free reign to play about with my gang and see what I could do with it, I decided to link people up with one another and we manly made it a female dominated gang which I think works really well.
