Production Diaries 20th - 23rd January
Monday,
This Monday we started out in the theatre with a few trust excises by using counter weights, the twist being someone else is the counter weight. We need to lean back and trust each other to use one another to balance, we needed to make sure we were both comfortable and then start to challenge what we can do by lifting one leg each. This then lead onto the main portion of the day which was spent faking a tug of war. We had to make it look as real as possible and focus on the smallest of details, how thick was the rope, who was in the audience? what was our team name? How could we make it look as real as possible with no rope, it really is a lot about team work and being in tune with everyone else. we also did a some what audition today, putting together different hypothetical scene that we were tasked with as a group. In this group I played Jamesy, and the situation was when Jamesy fides out his twin brother was gay. This obviously had to of had a lot of arguing and lot of tension.
Tuesday,
continuing on with our fringe festival us year 2s are putting together, I mostly have been focusing on Bouncers with my group. We are putting together some of the other scenes together, getting the blocked and thinking how we can link them up to shakers, Our director George is working very closely with us as he is actually acting in it with us. As for my own project I am collaborating with my friend Keiran, working on some recontextualised Shakespeare.
Wednesday,
Today we held the auditions for connections, I had looked over and over my audition material and found out what stuck and what didn't and over all I thought it went pretty well. The competition was very tough however. We had the opportunity to see everyone's audition one by one which was a big change. I was great to see everyone's hard work and we made it into a big audition panel.
Thursday,
We showed our monologues to tom again today, I really think he gave me some great notes to go off of. He challenged me with different ways to try act them out, finding a lot more humour in them were I didn't see before. This changed how I could use my monologues in auditions for uni. After this we were introduced to our second show we will be performing the same time as connections, a very famous play called DNA which everyone who took GCSE drama should know. Its a very fast, funny and twisted show which has been performed all over the country. We did a read through but no one at the time stud out to me, I decided to just sit on it for a bit.
